Outdoors And Nature: The North Arcachon Bay

Located just 50 km from Bordeaux, in the heart of the Landes de Gascogne, the Arcachon Basin is a vast bay where the fresh waters of the Leyre mix with the tum/hl/ultuous waters of the ocean. The Basin enjoys a microclimate. From spring, the mimosas distill their delicate fragrance, the first rays of the sun give a taste of summer on the water which takes on turquoise reflections.

Formerly called "the little Buch Sea", the Arcachon Bay has inherited a true maritime culture. The waters of the Basin constituted an extraordinary fish tank for the many fishermen of the Pays de Buch. Your private chauffeur will take you in one of our recent fleet vehicle for a trip through the amazing landscapes of this nature filled region. The first highlight is Le Teich (optional), heaven on earth for over 260 species of birds. Located in the heart of the Landes de Gascogne regional natural park, on the Leyre delta and on one of the most important migratory routes in Europe, this 110 hectare nature reserve, with marshland and forest is home to exceptional flora and fauna. Next, la Teste de Buch welcomes on its territory the most emblematic heritage of the basin that we see from the Pilat dune, with the salt meadows and the Cazaux-Sanguinet lake, the second largest French freshwater lake, connected by a canal in the Arcachon basin. It is the ideal place for practicing many outdoor sports in the heart of a magnificent forest. You will then be taken to the heights of the city of Arcachon, to discover the “Winter City”. Far from the hustle and bustle of the beaches, get lost in the alleys of the neighborhood in search of the most beautiful villas of the 19th century and walk in the Moorish Park until the Sainte-Cécile observatory. Last but not least, you will be able to climb to the top of the highest dune in Europe to admire a unique panorama of the Arcachon Bay. Certainly the most famous sand dune in the world!
