Castle of Blois:
The Castle of Blois, with its charming village is a unique example of French architecture going from the Middle Ages to the 17th century. With its multitude of styles, the edifice evokes the destiny of 7 kings and 10 queens of France.
Castle of Chambord:
Next reach Chambord. This castle is one of the most impressive and largest in the region. It was built to serve as a hunting lodge for King Francois 1er. It became ever since, a retreat for French kings, especially Louis XIV. The theater piece "Le Bourgeois gentilhomme" from French dramatist Molière, was played here for the first time in 1670. Of all its architectural wonders, the most famous is the double-spiral staircase designed by Leonardo da Vinci, the core of the building.
Castle of Cheverny:
The last château is Cheverny. This classical 17th-century castle who once belong to Diane de Poitiers, mistress of kind Henry II has belonged to the same family for more than 6 centuries. Financiers and officers in the service of several kings of France, their château is one of the largest in the Loire Valley, that has never been inhabited but is richly furnished and has tasteful 17th century Gobelins Tapestry.
A few minutes away from Amboise, come visit the Plou & Fils cellars. If you feel like walking around just a bit, we offer a self-guided itinerary in the vineyard. Let us guide you through our troglodyte cellars, for you to discover the vinification process of the traditional methods. Enjoy a wine tasting right by the cellars.
