Your private tour continues to the most spectacular villages in Provence. You will reach the Luberon area and hop off at Gordes. Gordes is one of the most beautiful villages in France where limestone, dry stone walls and bories are ubiquitous components of the landscape. The village has been sheltered under the castle, designed to protect the vulnerable junction with the plateau, since 1031. It has thus become for 7 centuries, one of the lookouts of Provence with its strong walls, its tall houses with rare openings and its maze of alleys. In the upper part of the village: the castle, the Saint-Firmin church, restaurants and interesting shops.
Next head to Roussillon an interesting village nestled in ochre cliffs, whose color invades the whole village. Roussillon is also one of the most beautiful villages in France, located in the heart of the largest ochre deposit in the world with magnificent cliffs and ocher quarries. With a charming atmosphere and picturesque alleyways, the village is also home to artisan workshops and art galleries. Its local market takes place on Thursdays.
Continue to Isle sur la Sorgue, a former fishing village, a green paradise crossed by many arms of the Sorgue on which old paddle wheels still turn. In its old center, alleys and canals intertwine. Famous for its antique shops, it has forged a strong image today among lovers of Art and ancient objects. Over 300 permanent antique dealers and second-hand dealers are open there all year round, making the city one of the most important European places of antiquity.
Before going back to your hotel on the French Riviera, Avignon, the city of the Popes will be your last stop. Visit its famous bridge built in the 12th century, that once linked the two banks of the Rhône as well as the old Avignon which is largely surrounded by 14th century ramparts superbly preserved. of course, don't miss the Palace of Popes built in the 14th century when the Popes settled in Avignon. Avignon was the capital of Christendom in the 14th century and the Palace was its symbol while 7 popes settled here
