Full Description of the Avignon & Châteauneuf du Pape Tour


Start your visit to the Provencal city of Avignon. Enjoy a promenade around the main monuments including the 14th century Pope's Palace (optional visit including audio guide), the biggest Gothic palace in the world, the Pont d'Avignon, the famous bridge, and the 'Cathédrale des Doms'.


Continue your tour to Chateauneuf Du Pape, a medieval village on the side of a hill, guarded by the ruins of an ancient “château” towering above. Enjoy a nice lunch with some good wine, and get ready to discover then the most famous names of this appellation.


Head to other domains to continue other wine tastings:  Les Caves Saint Charles, which offers tastings of some of the best local wines, Guy makes the wines come alive, speaking of their personalities and explaining what to look for in the tastings. If you want to make the most of it and learn everything about its history including the Pope's Palace, we advice you to take a private licensed guide. From 4th to 27th July, every evening during the Avignon theatre festival, the last admission at the Pope’s Palace will be at 6.30pm instead of 7pm. The Popes' Palace is open every day of the year. The last tickets are sold one hour before closing time. 10am - 5pm
