Food & Drinks

Proud of its exceptional heritage, Aix cultivates all forms of art and knowledge and its refined way of life has an instant appeal. Famed for its waters and its art, Aix-en-Provence wears its dual identity well, from refreshing fountains to old buildings harking back to past splendours, Aix is also well known for the buzz of markets.

The city's big market is a real institution in Provence, a place to meet up keeping the age-old trading tradition alive. The daily food market on Place Richelme offers a variety of fruits, vegetables and local specialities without forgetting the countless artisans selling a wide range of tablecloths, embroidery and fabric by the metre. There's also local produce such as Calisson d'Aix, Cavaillon melon, goat's cheese, Carpentras strawberries, soap, lavender honey, syrups, jam, olives, olive oils and great wine from Provence's vineyards.

We will then take you on a tour to Château Henri Bonnaud located at the heart of the Palette wine area (AOC), overhung by the Sainte-Victoire mountain which offers an outstanding view. You will visit the winery (barrels room included) a have a taste of the wines and the storytelling of the family estate as well as the secrets of the terroir of the Palette. The whole vineyard is organic and covers an area of thirty hectares, 14 of which labeled AOC Palette.
