ITINERARY

Embark on a captivating journey Following Van Gogh's steps in Provence. Enjoy a scenic drive from your place of stay in Provence and reach the vibrant city of Arles. Begin your exploration at the iconic 'Café Van Gogh,' immortalized in his renowned painting 'The Night Café' from 1888. Indulge in the ambiance over a cup of coffee before venturing to the Rhone River embankment, a source of inspiration for his masterpiece 'Starry Night Over the Rhone.' Arles served as a muse for Van Gogh, where he created approximately 300 paintings and drawings. Today, the city pays homage to his legacy with marked panels at key locations where he worked, each showcasing one of his masterpieces.

Discover the 'Yellow House,' where Van Gogh resided and collaborated with the French artist Gauguin. Despite their artistic disparities, they shared a close friendship and explored Arles together, visiting landmarks like the ancient Roman Amphitheatre, the theater, and the 'Alyscamps' necropolis. Experience the poignant history of the 'Hotel Dieu,' where Van Gogh was treated after his infamous ear-cutting episode, depicted in his painting 'Garden of the Hospital in Arles.' If you wish to enhance your understanding of the artist, visit the Van Gogh Foundation.

Before departing, pause at the Van Gogh Bridge, immortalized in his painting 'Langlois Bridge at Arles,' and other scenic locales captured on canvas.

Journey to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, where Van Gogh sought solace at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum, producing renowned works like 'Irises' and self-portraits amidst the tranquil surroundings of the Alpilles mountain range. Capture the essence of Provence by photographing the well-preserved Roman monuments of the Mausoleum and a Roman arch in Glanum.

Conclude your Van Gogh tour with a leisurely stroll through the medieval town of Les Baux de Provence, a quintessential Provençal village adorned with narrow streets, charming terraces, and artisanal shops—a perfect finale to your artistic odyssey through Provence.
