Start by reaching the Bay of Cassis and its spectacular view. Bathed in the sun of Provence, Cassis is a charming fishing colorful village where you can stroll on the lively harbour. Cassis' vineyards extend gently in terraces along the slopes, called restanques, until they plunge into the sea.
You will be able to visit fine local domaines like Paternel or Bagnol and get to discover the white wines that made the reputation of this region. By the way, Cassis is the only place in Provence to produce the majority of white wine containing at least 80% Marsanne. Cassis also produces a lot of rosé wines and some red ones.
Did you know that the Cassis AOC appellation was created in 1936 and was the first french “Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée”. It is the only french AOC that is fully part of a National Park, in this case the 'Parc National des Calanques'.
Then, we take you to the Bandol region to taste the famous red Bandol, some of which are among the best reds in Provence. Bandol is one of Provence’s most internationally recognized wine regions. The Bandol AOC covers the production of 8 communes with silicon & limestone soils. Those soils and the warm, coastal climate are ideally suited for the late ripening Mourvèdre grape which is the major variety of the region. Rich in tannins, it allows Bandol's red wines to age as those of Bordeaux.
Enjoy the wine and the views before returning to your hotel or cruise boat.
