ITINERARY

Set off on a journey through Normandy and immerse into the significant events of D-Day. Trace the footsteps of history as you unveil the events of June 6, 1944. Your exploration begins in Courseulles-sur-Mer where over 14,000 Canadian soldiers landed on its 8-kilometer shoreline. At Croix sur Lorraine, pay homage at the memorial park dedicated to de Gaulle, set against the serene backdrop of the sea.

Pay homage at Croix sur Lorraine, an 18-meter-tall monument symbolizing national independence, chosen in opposition to the Nazi swastika. It overlooks the sea and commemorates General de Gaulle's return to France on June 14, 1944, after crossing the English Channel.

Your next stop is Arromanches. This beach, designated Gold Beach during the operations, was one of the chosen sites to receive the artificial landing harbors, famously known as the Mulberry Harbours. In this expansive beach area, you'll have the opportunity to observe the remnants of the Mulberry harbor, a remarkable engineering achievement.

Continue to the US Cemetery at Colleville Sur Mer, situated on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach and the English Channel. This serene and solemn site spans 172 acres (70 ha) and serves as the eternal resting grounds for 9,387 American soldiers.. Meticulously maintained, the cemetery features rows of white marble crosses and Stars of David, symbolizing soldiers of diverse backgrounds and faiths who bravely fought for freedom.

Pointe du Hoc is a strategically significant site, serving as a crucial vantage point for the Germans due to its elevated position atop rugged cliffs along the coastline. From here, they could effectively monitor any maritime arrivals. Experience the breathtaking vista overlooking the English Channel from this historic location.

Conclude your D-Day Normandy Beaches Private Tour with a visit to the German cemetery, where somber gravestones provide a stark contrast to the pristine white tombstones of the nearby American cemetery.
