Start your day with a ride to Saint Rémy de Provence the place where the seer Nostradamus was born and where Van Gogh painted countless pieces like Starry Night. Nearby, you'll have the opportunity to admire two Roman monuments, the Mausoleum and the Arch of Glanum. The old town Glanum, home to pre-Celtics (Glanics) is a unique archeological site located at the gates of the city. Visit the magnificent Triumphal Arc, the Mausoleum and the interesting ruins!
Then reach the hilltop village of Les Baux de Provence, a typical perched village completely pedestrianised, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Enjoy the local market on Tuesdays and the traditional calcareous rocky houses along the winding streets that lead to the ruins and museum of an 11th-century castle at the highest part of the hill. Don't miss for a thing, the Carrières de Lumière, a monumental ancient quarry used for art exhibitions where 20th century artworks are projected against the quarry walls. Spectacular to see!
Deluxe France will book your lunch at a nice restaurant along the way.
Last but not least, discover Arles. The city has a charming Old Town with different sites dating back to the Roman era. Walk around the narrow streets and then enter and visit one of the most important treasures, the Amphitheatre, in French the Arènes d'Arles, inspired by the colosseum in Rome! This Roman monument dates back from Ancient Rome (90 AD), can hold 20,000 spectators who enjoyed chariot races and bloody hand to hand battle shows. Fun fact: in the Middle Ages, a real city was built inside the ramparts of the colosseum that was not until the 18th century that it was cleared to protect its status of historical monument. Nowadays it is used for concerts the Feria d'Arles and plays.
